The Collagen Induction Therapy treatments may be performed on any area you choose, but most popular are the face or the neck/decolletage area. Some people like to address the facial area first and then do a second package later on for the neck/decolletage – or you could talk to us about the possibility of combining packages for two areas.
Everybody is affected by the ageing process which begins around the age of 25, however the signs of ageing start to become visible on our skin’s surface in our 30s.
There are two causes of ageing for the skin:
Internal ageing – this is the skin’s natural intrinsic ageing which occurs throughout the body, not just the skin. Cellular renewal slows down for all parts of the body. This internal ageing process is mostly genetic but is certainly exacerbated by lifestyle choices: are we giving our cells all the nutrients they require to regenerate – think diet; are we giving our cells the oxygen they require to perform chemical reactions – think smoking, and breathing patterns; are we allowing the cells to detoxify – think water intake, toxin intake, exercise.
External ageing –
As the skin ages we see a loss of elasticity which results in sagging of the skin. The sagging skin tissue allows pockets of adipose (fat) in the subcutaneous layer to relocate (this is when we see the jowls starting to swing a little). Not only does this loss of structure make our skin appear aged, it also takes away the vital energy supplied by the subcutaneous tissue to support new cell generation – it is a vicious cycle. Skin sagging also causes pores to look more enlarged and scarring to become more prominent. This loss of elasticity can be simplified as collagen and elastin fibres not regenerating.
